HSE Prosecution - The true cost of poor Banksman Training - 06/02/2009

RoSPA reports that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is warning organisations to ensure they are better equipped to prevent injuries caused by vehicles reversing. The subject came to light following the prosecution of a local council; a refuse vehicle was reversing and was found to be responsible for the death of a member of the public. The fine imposed on the ill-equipped council totaled £40,000.

RoSPA also report that nearly a quarter of all deaths involving vehicles at work occur while reversing. A large number of incidents thankfully do not result in a fatality but do cause significant damage to property and or equipment. Most of these accidents happen at low speed and could be avoided, don’t be the next statistics.

The RSMA have a wide variety of courses available, please visit our training section and book your banksman training today.
